Golden Girls, second season, disk two, episode nine

Rose brings home a lost dog from the supermarket. "Oh, he likes me, he must be a male," says Blanche.

When blanche tells Dorothy that Rose has brought home a dog from the supermarket, she replies, "Couldn't she just get stew meat like she usually does?" Dorothy hates dogs, but Rose convinces her to ease up.

Dorothy takes a part time job at the museum Blanche works at and excels at her job, sparking Blanche's jealousy.

After a week the dog is still in the house, and Rose explains that she thinks it's sick. "It's a hangover," says Sophia. It quickly emerges that Sophia has been getting drunk on sherry with the dog. "Ma!" Shouts Dorothy. "You gave the dog sherry??" Sophia had been washing her underwear in the sink when apparently the dog asked for drink, but the mutt didn't know when to stop so they ended up singing some Puccini and taking a nap on the couch.

Sophia visits Dorothy and Blanche at the museum offices, a set which also at times is a therapist's office, Rose's counseling service, and other Miami-area locales. The museum director effulsively greets Sophia, causing her to turn back and ask Blanche, "Is he gay?"

The museum director tells Sophia he has a lovely pair of Gauguins. "You pervert!" Sophia shouts at him. "I was married for forty years and never saw my husband's gauguins."

A rift quickly develops between Dorothy and Blanche, as Dorothy takes over planning an upcoming museum banquet. What Blanche doesn't know is that the banquet is in her honor!

Dorothy is joined in her bed late at night by the dog, and they have a heart-to-heart.

Blanche and Dorothy finally make up after Blanche finds out the banquet is in her honor.

Rose finds the dog's owner, and the realization that she really did like that big damn dog in her bed causes Dorothy to tear up. But surprise! Rose has brought back five dogs from the animal shelter!
