Minnesota: come for the shopping, stay for more...shopping!

In this Star Tribune article about the decline of the Mall of America as a nighttime hotspot is a rather shocking statistic:

Indeed, while the fourth floor is largely vacant, the rest of the 4.2 million-square-foot complex is thriving. The mall continues to attract more tourists each year than Disney World, the Grand Canyon and Graceland combined.
That's truly frightening. It's also frightening (and a little sad) to note that the top two tourist attractions in the state are the Mall of America and the Cabella's in Owatonna, a sporting goods store which is open twenty-four hours.

I smell cooked statistics. How do they determine which visitors to the Mall of America are "tourists" as opposed to just ordinary Minnesotans in search of shoes? Evidently they just label everyone who goes there a "tourist" equivalent to people who go to the Grand Canyon. Bah humbug.
