Jesu Chreaster!

Ah, taking flak in the comments for the simple fact that my dear mother asked her family to gather at the old homestead for a secular meal that happened to fall on the same day that Christ rose (sigh, again!) and may I assure you readers that no prayers were spoken (except my yearly prayer that the bitch stays in the cave next year) and no reference was made to nails or salvation or god.

It's true, I was a little Bible-thumper as a kid, as much as a Bible-Thumper as you can be as a Lutheran...I was even...and it takes a lot for me to admit this, believe me, but I was even, while I highschool student, a member of a 'clown ministry.'

But indeed I am an atheist at this point (which is not a synonym for lack, thank you very much, and everyone in my family is an atheist--basically. My mom, who organizes these things, subscribes to the religion of Sylvia Brown more than anything else.

These holidays though are just the spots pre-marked on the calendar for people to get together in my immediate family. You've typically got the day off and there's a set menu for the day. My mom makes a mean fucking ham and a nice potato salad, and indeed I stuffed my face with both, and the night before I sat around eating Cadbury's Cream Eggs. I may hate Christmas, but if its an excuse to deep-fry a turducken, I'm in.

I saw Sylvia Brown on Larry King recently. She's a trip. 'Larry' she said, 'There is someone around you with the initial L' (Larry didn't respond) 'or maybe an M or N... no, P... wait... T.'

Have another cigarette, Sylvia, I am sure it will come to you.
