Poets die younger than other writers, study says

Via Reuters:

(crackpot?) Researcher James Kaufman at Cal State studied about 2,000 dead writers from various centuries from the United States, China, Turkey, and Eastern Europe. On average poets lived to be 62, playwrights 63, and novelists 66. Women writers were more likely to suffer from mental illness. "I dubbed this the 'Sylvia Plath Effect.'
