The Barbara Bush of Gay Blogs

Barbara Bush days before the start of the Iraq war:

But why should we hear about body bags, and deaths, and how many, what day it's gonna happen, and how many this or what do you suppose? Or, I mean, it's, it's not relevant. So, why should I waste my beautiful mind on something like that.

Bradford Shellhammer:

The simple things, what some might call shallow or trivial, are anything but. It just takes effort to see their importance. Reading Vogue may not be the same as reading about war or injustice or homelessness. Money and time spent on shopping and blogging and worshipping at the church of the ego could easily be spent on making a difference in the community and the world.

But making the world a prettier place is important. Design is a good idea. It makes the world that is so hard, cold, and scary look better than it actually is. That is not something that should be dismissed. That is the power of art and of human creation. Even when grasping for air in this world a photograph framed perfectly, a shirt's colorful lines, the voice of an angel singing make everything all right. Art and design should inspire us to appreciate more, give more, and create a more beautiful world.

Hmmmm...

That Bradford's haircut is mighty familiar.

Perhaps you had a certain fashionista in mind when you trimmed Brian's mane?

Ouch.
Admittedly, I cringed at his post there as well, thinking it really came across as rather pie in the sky, but I'd never compare him to Barbara Bush. That's just mean!
